1) Who is Dr. Wong?

Dr. Wong is a board certified family physician and is also a licensed acupuncturist. He has been practicing conventional western medicine as well as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the Boston area for more than 25 years. Dr. Wong is only few of the physicians who do TCM and conventional western medicine in Boston area. Dr. Wong’s uses his Eastern- Western treatment approach and have helped more than ten thousand patients in the past 25 years. His patients are from many areas of this country and some over seas.

2.) What is TCM?

TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, is a health care modality which as been practiced in China, Japan, Korea and other Asian Countries for thousands of years. Herbs are natural dried herbs from plans, many of them are organic and natural green plans. That is good for your body and for save the green environment.

It is still very popular in Asia. TCM treats patients with natural Chinese herbs and acupuncture. It is now classified as alternative medicine in the U. S. , and more and more patients seek TCM as an effective treatment.

TCM embodies the ancient Chinese Ying and Yang theory, which emphasizes energy, balance, and harmony. In other words, if the body is in balance, the body is in good health; if the body is out of balance, it is in need of care. TCM aims to restore the balance in the body.

3)What kinds of medical problems are suitable for treatment with TCM?

Any medical problem can benefit from TCM, TCM is particularly good for medical problems with multiple symptoms and multiple causes. Dr. Wong believes that the following medical problems can usually be treated with TCM effectively:

Asthma; hay fever, reactive airways.

Migraine; trigeminal neuralgia; chronic severe HA.

Chronic skin disorder (eczema, urticeria, dermatitis, acne).

Chronic body ache; low back ache; sciatica; frozen shoulder; tennis elbow; arthritis; fibromyalgia; rheumatism.

Some chronic OB-GYN problems ( P.M.S., dysmenorrhea, menometrorrhea, endometriosis); possible some helpful treatment for infertility.

Depression; Chronic fatigue; chronic insomnia.

Chronic GI disorder; Crohn’s disease; ulcerative colitis; irritable bowel movement.

Supportive treatment for some cancer patients.

4)Can I get immediate results from TCM treatment?

TCM aims to restore the body’s balance non-intrusively. In other words, TCM gradually relieves the body from symptoms as the body gains more balance. When the body is in balance, symptoms often go away permanently.

5).Can I be treated with TCM and converntional western medicine at the same time?

Yes, if used appropriately, the two treatments can be complementary. Since Dr. Wong ahs had extensive training in both conventional western medicine and TCM, he has been able to combine the treatments effectively for more than 25 years.

6.) Do Chinese herbs bring about side-effects?

Chinese herbs are usually very benign and do not bring about side-effects. However, if used inappropriately, the patient can experience adverse side-effects.

7.) Can I always use the same herbs for my health problem?

No. TCM usually helps the patient step-by-step. To maximize the therapeutic potential of the herbs, The TCM doctor needs to change the combination of herbs according to the degree of balance in the patient’s body. Some times Dr. Wong does prescribe the same herbs for a long period of time to stabilize the balance in the body.

8.)After I recover, do I still need to take herbs?

If you body has achieved a strong balance, you do not need any more herbs treatments. However, if the balance in your body is still fragile, you may still need to be treated with TCM, but in a less intensive fashion.

9.)Does Dr.Wong accept my health insurance?
